14:00 Using model-based digital twins to evaluate and predict performance of wind-assisted ships
Olivier Taillard, CTO & Co-Founder, Syroco
When considering Wind Propulsion, either for a refit or a newbuild project, ships become more complex: new forces, new interactions, hybrid propulsion… Traditional methods of designing and operating ships become disrupted. Model-based digital twins, which encapsulate physics solvers, can simulate these ships and take into account complex interactions. By running these digital twins on actual maritime lines, with historical or forecasted weather, both the naval architect and the ship operator can precisely evaluate/predict the performance and tune the energy efficiency of their vessels.
