Simon Schofield

Simon is the chief technology officer of BAR Technologies, leads the technical teams and has been instrumental in developing the business direction of the company.

After graduating with a degree in Ship Science at Southampton University, Simon took some time out indulging in his passion for sailing.

Simon has spent over 20 years at the forefront of the technical development of grand prix racing yacht development.  His wide-ranging experience includes multiple Americas Cups Campaigns, Volvo Ocean Races and Offshore and Inshore Grand Prix Race yachts.

Simon worked alongside Sir Ben Ainslie during the 35th America’s Cup and was head of design and engineering for Ben Ainslie Racing, the British entry before jointly founding BAR Technologies.  Simon is the chief technology officer of BAR Technologies, leads the technical teams and has been instrumental in developing the business direction of the company.  

Simon and the team at BAR Tech have invented and developed the most complete Wind Propulsion System available and it will be installed on 2 vessels in early 23.

BAR Technologies are leaders in simulation driven marine innovation and employ the latest cutting-edge toolsets and expertise knowledge in their design process.  BAR Technologies have recently launched the BARTech 30, a class leading Crew Transfer Vessel with active foils producing significant fuel savings and vastly superior seakeeping.  The company’s foil system, FOSS (foil optimised stability system) is also producing large efficiency gains for catamaran’s and other vessels.  BAR Technologies already have multiple sales of the BARTech 30 and FOSS for catamarans and are gaining strength and leadership in the offshore crew delivery sector.
