Matthew Williams, Principal Specialist, Strategic Regulatory Projects at Lloyd’s Register

Following operational appointments at sea, and work as a business and risk manager in the UK Royal Navy, Matthew joined the International Chamber of Shipping in 2014. As the lead adviser on operational issues he represented the interests of international shipping in negotiations at the International Maritime Organization; encouraging necessary and effective regulation, and consistent global implementation for a level playing field for the industry. Matthew joined Lloyd’s Register in 2019 as Principal Specialist, Strategic Regulatory Projects to identify the risks and opportunities arising from regulatory responses to high-level trends with the potential to introduce significant, disruptive or structural change within the shipping industry.
