Geneva (SUI), October 17, 2019 – The Maritime Transport Efficiency Conference (MTE Conference) is pleased to welcome SHELL amongst its partners. On 1 January 2020, the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) will implement a new regulation for a 0.50% global sulphur cap for marine fuels. Ships will have to use marine fuels with a sulphur content inferior to the current limit in an effort to reduce the amount of sulphur oxide. Shell Gas To Liquid is one of the solutions available on the market. It can be used in any diesel engine and will result in a reduction of local emissions, smell and sound.

The Maritime Transport Efficiency Conference will take place on May 18-19, 2020 in Geneva, Switzerland. The event was created to bring together all stakeholders involved in maritime transport technology, create a positive dynamic around sustainability issues, encourage and promote innovation and new developments aimed at improving the environmental balance sheet and reducing operating costs.

With Shell Gas To Liquid we offer a drop-in fuel which can be used in any diesel engine and will immediately result in a reduction of local emissions“, says Marcel van den Berg, Sales and Business Development Manager at Shell GTL Fuel. “The Maritime Transport Efficiency Conference in Geneva will present different solutions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of maritime transport. It will be a place to discuss the impact and effectiveness of IMO 2020. Our goal is to develop solutions that are good for the environment and also economical and this is exactly what MTE Conference wants to promote, so we look forward to attending this event.

The Maritime Transport Efficiency Conference is open to all stakeholders in maritime transport and motorboats concerned about their environmental impact and determined to reduce their operating costs, as well as politicians, technology developers, students and NGO’s.

We are proud to welcome Shell as one of our partners“, says Bernard Schopfer, the organiser of the conference. “Global brands such as Shell are role models for their industry. When they take concrete measures towards a more sustainable environment, they are being listened to. We look forward to hearing them at the upcoming MTE Conference.
