Head of Research, Artemis Technologies
Dr. Katrina Thompson
Katrina joined Artemis Technologies in March 2021 as Head of Research. A chartered engineer and graduate in Aeronautical Engineering, she has 30 years of industrial experience across aerospace, telecommunications, and maritime sectors. Her primary technical expertise is in numerical methods and modelling, with 16 years of experience in finite element analysis working on major aircraft structures. She also has several years of experience as a software engineer and project manager, across all phases of the software development lifecycle. She has a PhD in Computational Fluid Dynamics, and an MSc in Finite Element Analysis. Her most recent role before joining Artemis was a post-doctoral research project with Rolls-Royce, designing aero-structural conceptual design tools.
As lead within the research department, Katrina relies upon her extensive experience within the engineering and research sectors to support the delivery of Artemis Technologies’ new class of vessels and transformative eFoiler® propulsion system. She works closely with the academic members of the Artemis led Belfast Maritime Consortium.
